7 Fun Ways to Celebrate the New Year
The new year is approaching quickly! If you don’t have plans yet, here are seven fun and easy ways to celebrate the coming of a new year!
Host a celebration at home, with friends and family
One easy way to celebrate the new year is to host your own party! Invite your friends and family over to ring in the new year together. It can be as casual or as formal as you want it to be. You can watch the New Years’ Eve specials on TV or play card/board games together for a more casual party, or you can have fancy food and drinks for a more formal party. When you host a party, it’s all up to you!
Attend a friend’s celebration
If you don’t want to host a party yourself, see if any of your friends are hosting a party and attend theirs! If you want to, you can bring some of your own snacks and entertainment to make the party more fun. This is a great way to celebrate the new year with your friends, and to potentially meet new friends!
Attend a local event
Check to see if any organizations are hosting a new years’ celebration. Places like churches or community centers might be having a special event to ring in 2018, so if you are interested, you should join them! These are great if you have children, since they will usually have something for them to do, too. Spend a few minutes online looking up any local events that might be taking place and see if you can attend them!
Watch a fireworks show
Fireworks are a new years’ tradition, so why not enjoy some beautiful fireworks displays? Places around the city might be putting on their own fireworks show. If you would like, you can drive around the city to watch various fireworks shows, or stay in one location and watch the show until it ends. (If you plan to take any small children or pets, though, make sure the fireworks don’t frighten them!)
Put on your own fireworks show
You could also put on your own fireworks show! It’s a fun and beautiful experience. (Of course, follow the directions on the package. Make sure everyone in your group stays safe and takes all the necessary precautions, as fireworks can be dangerous!)
Write down your New Year’s Resolutions, and encourage your friends to do the same
Setting goals and writing them down is a good thing to do any time of the year, but the new year is a great excuse to actually do it. Have you been putting off learning a new language or starting a new fitness routine? The new year is a perfect excuse to get back on track with these goals! Think about any goals you would like to accomplish this coming year and write them down. Remember to make them realistic, setting impossible standards for yourself will only discourage you. Post them in a place you will look often, as it will remind you of the things you want to accomplish. When you have your goals written out and in your face all the time, you are much more likely to accomplish them.
Make a playlist of your favorite songs of 2017
I love keeping a record of my favorite things so I can look back on it in a few years and reminisce about the good times. Making a playlist is one way to keep a record of the year. Put together a list of songs you have loved this past year. In a few years, you can listen to this playlist and remember the amazing things that happened in 2017.
Happy New Year! May 2018 be your best year yet.
